Lorraine Lena Murphy

Lorraine Lena (Hemond) Murphy, a beloved spouse, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted spouse of Harold Robert Murphy for 55 years. Born on January 10, 1947, to the late Roland and Marion (Desmarais) Hemond, Lorraine was cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Jennifer Fugere and Michelle Creighton, she is also survived by three beautiful grandchildren, Matthew, Kathleen and Jason as well as her brother Roger Hemond.

She delighted in collecting angels and shared many joyful moments playing bingo with her family. For over two decades, Lorraine ran a ceramic studio where she taught others the art of ceramics, beginning in her basement and eventually growing into a full studio. Her standard answer when asked what color to paint anything was purple. Lorraine graduated from Bryant College with an associate’s degree. She dedicated more than 30 years of service to Mount Saint Charles Academy in the main office. She found serenity in upstate New York along the St. Lawrence River, watching the great ships drift by. Always resourceful, Lorraine believed in being prepared for any adventure or challenge.

She loved geocaching and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. Lorraine was passionate about travel and made friends wherever she went. She chaperoned many memorable trips to Ireland with the Mount band, as well as journeys to other destinations. Her warmth, creativity, and boundless care touched countless lives.
