Michael Teixeira, 59, of East Providence, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at his home.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Edna Mae (Haynes) Teixeira.
He was the grandson of the late August and Mary Vierra Teixeira of East Providence RI and Edward and Margaret Jackson Haynes of Morgantown WV.
Michael also known as Mikey Tex, and was the owner and operator of Tony’s Tires in East Providence. He continued to run the business after the passing of his dad and original owner Anthony (Tony Tex) Teixeira several years ago. The tire shop has been a main staple in the community for over 50 years. Mike was a hard working respected businessman and was very dedicated to his community. Michael was the kind of person who would always put others before himself. He would help anyone in need. He also loved spending time with his family whenever he had the chance. Mike loved watching sports especially football and hockey, and also played in several adult ice hockey leagues in the past. Mike was a beloved son, brother, and uncle and had many friends and will be sadly missed.
He leaves two sisters, Donna Marie Teixeira and Barbara Lee Sherman Teixeira, (Ret. P.P.D.) one brother, Anthony Teixeira, Jr. (Ret. P.P.D.) three nieces, Mickeya Teixeira, Kyra Sherman, Tiana Marie Teixeira, two nephews, Nicolas Anthony Teixeira and Roger Sherman, II., three great nieces, four great nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his beloved friend, who was considered like a brother to Mike and a great supporter of Tony’s Tire Service and the Teixeira family, for over 50 years, Lamont “Monti” Valles. The owners of Munro’s Dairy Company, Bud and Rob Armstrong were also great supporters of Tony’s Tire Srtevice for many years.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the East Providence Yacht Club, 9 Pier Road, East Providence.
