Reflecting on College | Ben
Johnson and Wales University
Finishing my finals right now. It’s my last day of school. I’m a senior at JWU, studying Business Admin and Economics. It’s been pretty decent. I think there’s definitely been some issues since I’ve come here. COVID definitely affected them heavily and they haven’t really rebounded. There’s definitely better schools in Rhode Island and definitely New England at large. But I think it’s not a top-tier, but kind of a mid-tier college. It’s pretty good.
I’m from New Hampshire, right on the Mass border near Haverhill. I’d say maybe more than 60% are out of state. Usually when you start a class they’ll ask, ‘where’s everyone from?’ Not that many say Rhode Island.
If people want to come here or anything like that, it’s stressful coming to college, but for example, I did really bad my first year. But you know, after those general education classes, get into your specialty, I did really good. And now my GPA is 3.5, and it’s a lot better than it used to be. I think if you take it slow, and understand you have time to fix things if they don’t go right in the beginning, you don’t have to quit.
