Peter A Manocchia, age 79, of Warwick, Rhode Island passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Hope Hospice, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Judith (Allen) Ashworth. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Ethel (Grannell) Manocchia.
Peter served his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a Chaplain’s Assistant in Korea. After the war, Peter earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Providence College via the GI Bill. Peter was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for over 35 years retiring from the East Side of Providence office. After retiring from the post office, he worked part time for Bald Hill Dodge delivering auto parts.
An avid sports enthusiast, Peter started the original Rhody fantasy baseball league in 1984 with his team Manock’s Sox. He was an avid Providence College basketball / hockey & Mt. St. Charles hockey fan. He followed PC all the way to New Orleans for the final four in 1987. Peter was a bartender and patron at Bradley Cafe for many years serving beers with a smile and story! Peter and Judy had a boat called KASA LICRIBIL and loved to summer docked in Block Island.
In addition to his wife he leaves his children, Karyn Manocchia and her husband Robert Howard of Brooklyn, NY, Sara Gilmore and her husband Gary and their children Bianca and Matthew of Ellsworth, ME, his step children, Lisa McDonald and her husband Raymond and their children Liam, Kayleigh and Brendan of Somerset, MA, William Ashworth and his wife Kyle and their children Billy and Riley of Holliston, MA, Christy McGee and her husband Jeff and their children Leah and Tess of Assonett, MA, He also leaves his siblings, Bob Manocchia and his wife Sue of Steubenville, OH, Jim Manocchia and his wife Jackie of Skowhegan, ME. His nephews and nieces: Nick, Amy & Nick, Jon & Tisha, Laura & Joe, Katie & Joe, Thomas & Chrissy, Daniel & Rebecca, Michael & Maddie. Last but not least, we cannot leave out his furry friends, Charlie, Tucker and Murphy.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 10:00-12:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Funeral will follow at 12:00 pm. Burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
