Steven Gianlorenzo, Sr.

Steven Gianlorenzo, Sr. 66, a lifelong Townie, of East Providence, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Born in Providence, he was the son Barbara E. (Kierce) Gianlorenzo and the late Henry Raymond Gianlorenzo.

Steve was a third-generation home builder and the owner and operator of Gianlorenzo & Sons Construction. Following in a family tradition of craftsmanship and hard work, he built hundreds of homes throughout East Providence, helping shape the community he proudly called home. He was a

Past President of the Rhode Island Independent Contractors Association, Associate Member of Rhode Island Criminalist Associates at Rhode Island State Crime Lab, a Special for the East Providence Police Department, and served as a Building Official for the State of Rhode Island. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career.

While Steve was respected professionally, his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family, especially his three beloved grandchildren. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with Andrew Jr., Emily, and Alexander. Whether attending their activities, sharing stories, making them laugh, or simply enjoying time together, his grandchildren were the light of his life. He cherished every moment with them and took immense pride in watching them grow. The love he had for his grandchildren was unmatched, and the memories they shared will remain with them forever.

Besides his devoted mother, Barbara, Steve leaves two sons, Steven Gianlorenzo, Jr. and his fiancé Bethany, and Andrew Gianlorenzo and his wife Jennifer, all of East Providence; his adored grandchildren, Andrew Gianlorenzo, Jr., Emily Gianlorenzo, and Alexander Gianlorenzo; his former wife and mother of his children, Cheryl Gianlorenzo; his brother, Henry Gianlorenzo; and Bonnie.
